FIELD NOTES / STEAM DECK
Steam Deck: a reported 30 FPS starting point.
Steam Deck HQ recommends Low graphics, FSR Performance and a 30 FPS in-game cap. Its reviewer found the game playable with compromises, including traversal stutter. These are reported settings, not a benchmark we ran or a guarantee for every Deck.[1]

Why a player’s 40 FPS is not a conflicting benchmark
In the 14 October player thread, one reply reports medium settings and roughly 40 FPS, while also noting traversal stutter and terrain textures loading poorly. The player says the counter was often off; this is an experience report, not a recorded performance run.[2]
Use the review settings as a repeatable starting point. Then compare the same combat encounter and traversal stretch on your device before raising image quality. Higher peaks in a quiet area do not establish the minimum rate during a demanding fight.
Before deciding whether it is playable for you
- If you accept reduced image quality and a 30 FPS target, the reviewer’s configuration gives you a concrete setup to try.[1]
- If sharp textures or consistently higher frame rates are essential, read the reported compromises before buying for handheld use.[2]
- For a performance report, record your Deck variant, SteamOS and game version, Proton selection, settings and the exact area. This makes comparison more useful than a single FPS number.
